I am no expert on their history, but would go to Marx and the genesis of the communist thesis. Marx himself died almost penniless proclaiming "Iam not a Marxist" as he witnessed his thesis appropriated by the future movement. Check the funding mechanism, who were the Czars enemies? What legislation or decree preceded it? who did he kill? 'Follow the money' is the dictum for such events and will show who bought and brought the weapons, corrupted the military, decided Trotsky should be shot, chose Lenin as the new leader, etc. I guess I pose more ?'s rather than answers, but if you want to truly learn, don't read the accounts of the conquerors who write history, for they are but the effect of another and prior event and cause.

I took history when I was in sec 3 & 4. Don't really know if I can recall my facts right. Anyway, I have my text with me now; so thought of typing to you some pointers. Hope that could answer your question.

**Russia Revolution***
When Russian citizens come together to request for a change in the governing system of their control in either a peaceful or violent way. This change did not happen in just one day or one event but is caused by a SERIES of events and problems.

1. Russia Revolution resulted in the end of Russian monarchy.
2. Russia Revolution is caused by social, economic and political problems. Some of these problems have been in existence for a very long time; we call them "Long-Term problems"; others short term.
3. Long Term Problem:
(a) [Land Size] Russia size is big; so it's very hard for a monarch (ONE KING) to govern alone. So, it's very easy for people to rebel and start revolution.
( [Not United] People living in Russia were not all Russians. In fact there are more than 100 types of people with different nationalities. Because of the differences, they see themselves differently. So Russia was not united. Because of this; internal conflicts and happen and thus resulting in revolution.
(c) [Proverty] The people there were very poor. 95% of the people lived in proverty. Because the poor people wanted to improve their living conditions, they support the revolution. (The revolution is believed to be able to make them richer.. Who don't want to be rich?)
(d) [Monarch] Russia was ruled by a monarch. They call him the Tsar (or emperor) The Tsae lived in the city and have little contact with people. People thus dont know him; so have higher tendancy to rebel.
(e) [Oppositions] All countries got opposition parties. Russia has too: Liberals (They want democracy) Social Revolutionarist (Want peasant revolution) Social Democrats (Wants to have communism)
Short-Term Problem
(a) [World War] Russia was involved in war. This cause 1. Food becomes very expensive (Between 1914-1916) 2. Many war losses and 3. Massive food shortage

All these reasons cause the Russia people to be very unhappy. They blame the Tsar and thus want to overthrow him from power. Thus they did alot of things to bring down the king. The process of doing those things to tear down monarchy is call Revolution. In this case, Russia Revolution!

**BLOODY SUNDAY***
On 22nd Jan 1905; on a Sunday, many people (About 200,000 protesters mostly workers and their families) wanted to tell the Tsar (the emperor: His name is call Tsar Nicholas II) about their problems (They too poor..etc) The workers were led by a priest and HAD NO WEAPONS at ALL!! Some even carried the Tsar photo to show their loyalty. But when the Tsar army saw got so many people, they panicked and shot at them; killing hundreds of the people. So this day is know as Bloody Sunday. Bloody Sunday is one of the day that sparks off; or catalyst the Russia Revolution. Because of Bloody Sunday, people are angry with the Tsar for killing innocent. This increase the unhappiness of the people to the Tsar. [Note: Bloody Sunday incident does not FULLY cause the Russia Revolution.. still got other problems.. war, opposition.. those problems I've wrote earlier on]

And finally, I think that's all. Alot of in between details are missing. Don't follow entirely on this thing. This is like a guideline ba.. Overview.. Good luck for your exams!
